IRSGD Open Lectures

The International Research School of Game Design (IRSGD) gathers for a symposium this week. The IRSGD is a collaboration between Uppsala University and Gotland University and consists of an international gathering of leading game designers and academics working to create a greater understanding in- and development of game design and its applications in other fields.

Three of the invited senior game designers held short lecturs, giving their take on the subject of game design and how it can be developed in the future.

Ernest Adams, Mike Sellers and Richard Bartle started the week with a guest lecture each; sharing their thoughts on game design and how the field can be developed in the future.

GamesCOM 2011

GamesCOM. The worlds largest computer games tradeshow. This is our third year at the event (see 2010 and 2009) but for once we didn’t actually exhibit anything. Instead we was a part of the (excellent) Nordic Game booth in the business area. Hanging out with the rather sublime community of game developers operating in the nordic countries.

… but we did spend quite a bit of time in the show too, of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

GDC Europe 2011

GDC Europe has been great this year. Lot’s of inspiring lectures, great conversations and a fair amount of good parties to boot. ๐Ÿ™‚

As is our way, we brought our students to this – the largest industry meeting place in Europe – to show their work (and thus, our work). We met a lot of old friends here but also made several new ones. Let’s just say we can look forward to several new guest lectures this autumn, and probably a staff exchange with the Communication and Multimedia Department at NHL University which we had a great time getting to know!

We’ve been to GDC Europe several times before. Check out 2010 and 2009.

GGC Lite during Almedalen!

Gotland Game Conference is a two day long conference for the international game industry and a huge public exhibition of our students’ projects.

We gather some of the best games and animations in our Motion Capture Studio during the Almedalen Week – for you to enjoy before we send students and games off to Germany for even larger venues.

The entire show floor is staffed and run by the student developers themselves – so whether you’re interested in gaming, education or a combination thereof; welcome to meet the talents of the future games- and animation industry!

You can drop by to play some games, watch 3D animated movies in our cinema or just chit-chat with our developers 11:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.

This is where you'll find the GAME Motion Capture Studio
